Somos CDC Community Agreement
Rights as a member of Somos CDC
As a volunteer member of Somos CDC I am entitled to:
Access donations in the Somos Member’s Only Market.
Participate in the Somos Investing communal savings program.
Serve on the Community Benefits Committee.
Raise concerns or issues I identify with the CDC.
Responsibilities as a member of Somos CDC
As a member of Somos CDC I have a responsibility to:
Donate a minimum of 6 hours per month to Somos approved volunteer opportunities and partnerships.
Sign up for volunteer events of interest
Communicate changes of plans ahead of time (24 hr minimum)
Adhere to the policies and procedures of the co-operative set out in the organizational documents and created by the board.
Abide by the code of conduct created by the Community Benefits Community and the communal consequences for violations of this code of conduct.
Code of Conduct
We use respectful and appropriate language while participating in Somos CDC programming and activities. We do not use foul language, racial slurs, or make explicit or sexually inappropriate comments.
We communicate directly and with kindness. We do not gossip about our concerns or members of the community.
We treat members and volunteer partners with respect:
Arriving for volunteer opportunities on time
Dressed appropriately
Manual Work and Casual Events (Somos T-shirt, Name Badge, and Shorts/Pants)
Civil Meetings and Formal Events (Business Professional)
Following instructions carefully
Contributing to the best of our ability
Acting as a team player
Serving the entirety of our volunteer commitment
We work to resolve conflicts peacefully, taking the time and space we need to manage our emotions and communicate our concerns. We do not use or tolerate violence of any kind (verbal, sexual, emotional, or physical).
We do not use illicit drugs or alcohol while participating in Somos programming or volunteer activities.
Accountability Expectations
Members
All Somos members have the authority to address the following code of conduct violations with fellow members as an expression of care and mutual support:
Use of foul or inappropriate language
Gossip
Inappropriate phone use during service/volunteer activities
Inappropriate dress
Late arrival/early departure from volunteer activity
Staff
All Somos staff have the authority to address the above code of conduct violations with members as well as more serious violations. The following violations will result in a staff consult and temporary suspension of membership privileges:
Excessive call outs (3 occurrences)
Late arrival/early departure from volunteer activities (2 occurrences)
No call/no show for a volunteer activity (1 occurrence)
Use of drugs/alcohol
Stealing
Board of Directors
The Somos CDC Board of directors has the authority to address the above code of conduct violations with members, as well as more serious violations. The following violations will result in a Board of Directors consult and the immediate suspension of membership privileges:
Violence
Sexual Harassment
Discrimination
Bullying
Falsely claiming or verifying volunteer hours
Declaration
